Passport to Exports: Ascend 2020 @ TechSquare Labs

Passport to Exports is part of a regional Atlanta Metro Export Plan to help companies grow through international sales of their products and services.

With 95 percent of the world’s consumers located outside the United States, the global potential for metro Atlanta companies is tremendous.  Passport to Exports is designed to answer some basic questions that business executives may have about going global.  It is an informal and candid round table discussion between experienced exporters and export-curious companies.

Each program is facilitated by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), and the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC), and other regional and local economic development organizations.  Space is limited.

Arab Health 2018 @ Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre

Arab Health 2018 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is the largest healthcare exposition in the Middle East.  This year’s Arab Health welcomed nearly 97,000 visitors from 159 countries.  Products and services will be on display from the world’s leading manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors in medical and health technologies, laboratory equipment, diagnostics, medical devices, imaging, cardiology, surgical products, and disposables for hospitals and physicians’ offices.

Did you know:

  • Georgia exports of medical equipment and pharma products reached almost $1.6 billion in 2016.
  • Medical exporters will find that many countries in the Middle East respect US FDA and European standards.
  • According to Alpen Capital, the GCC healthcare market is projected to increase from $40.3 billion in 2015 to $71.3 in 2020.
  • Qualified exporters receive:
    • Shared turn-key booth within the USA pavilion
    • Market intelligence, introductions to key contacts, and follow-up assistance provided by GDEcD (Georgia Department of Economic Development)

Since 1999, UGA’s Small Business Development Center’s ExportGA program has helped over 150 companies sell in excess of $40 million all over the world.  This program has been nationally recognized for its quality and effectiveness by the North American Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE) and the US Small Business Administration.

ExportGA 2018 is an intensive four-session, 16-hour export training program which allows export-ready companies to develop their skills.  By utilizing these skills throughout the program, new international sales opportunities are identified.

Companies accepted into the program will become skilled at finding profitable export markets, developing distribution channels, understanding foreign and US regulatory issues, pricing and costing company products, submitting international quotations, processing accounts receivable, and recognizing legal and cultural considerations.  Each participating company will have access to its own international business student from the University of Georgia to help it with research.
